People's Republic of China

Red is used in the flag of the People's Republic of China as a symbol of revolution and the blood that has been shed by revolutionary martyrs. The large star represents the communist party and the four small stars are for the unity of all the people of different ethnic groups within the country.

The current version of this flag was adopted on the 1st of October 1949.
